Easy Flip & Sew Placemats

Class Description

Come to the Embellish classroom to learn a modified quilt-as-you-go method to make a set of placemats to freshen your dining table or make as a special shower gift! Once you learn the technique, you’ll be hooked! (The vertical strip version will be made in the class.

Supply List

• Sewing Machine with walking foot or IDT; bring all your feet and accessories just in case
• Sewing machine needles: Quilting or Topstitch Size 90
• 50 wt thread to match backing fabric (we sell Wonderfil Konfetti) and 50 wt netural thread to piece; you will also need a thread to match your focus fabric
• Basic sewing kit (seam ripper, snips, etc)
• Rotary Cutter, Mat, 6 ½” x 24” or similar ruler
• Straight pins
• Heat erasable Frixion Pen, size .7 mm
• Soft HB pencil or chalk pencil that will show up on batting
• Quilting ruler, 6 x 24 or similar size
• Pattern: Patterns by Annie, Easy Flip and Sew Placemats (available at Embellish)

Fabrics for Vertical Strip Placemat (for 4 placemats)

• Main fabric = 0.90 m
• Assorted Fabrics for Vertical Strip = Nine 2” x 18” strips
• Accent Fabric (narrow border) = 13 ½” x 10”
• Backing = 1 m
• Binding = 0.50 m
• Fusible Fleece = 4 pieces 13 ½” x 18 ½”
