Project Hugs Charity Sew-in

We are pleased to partner with TrendTex Fabrics, a Canadian supplier of premium quilting cottons, to host “Project Hugs”, a charity sewing event to create children’s quilts that will be donated locally. TrendTex has set a goal of 1000 children’s quilts to be completed nationally in the month of May. The quilts finish at 40" x 40".

The Cobourg Public Library has generously provided the space for the event; our quilts will be donated to The Cobourg Public Library to be used during children’s and baby programming.

If you cannot attend the event, order a kit ($40) and construct the quilt on your own with the included pattern. Then, return the finished quilt to Embellish so that it can be donated locally.

Location: Cobourg Public Library, 55 King Street West, Cobourg

The cut-off date for this event will be Friday May 12 to ensure enough kits can be obtained ahead of time.

Supply List

• Sewing Machine with IDT or walking foot, ¼” foot and all purpose foot (bring all your accessories and manual just in case
• Extension Table for your sewing machine if you own one
• 2 bobbins filled with a thread that matches or coordinates with the flannel in your kit (white would also be suitable)
• Size 80 or 90 Topstitch or Quilting needle for your sewing machine
• Basic sewing kit, including thread snips, seam ripper, long straight pins, hand sewing needle, Frixion heat erasable pen, chalk liner or other disappearing marking pen
• Quilter’s Safety pins
• Rotary cutter, cutting mat and 6 ½” x 24” ruler (or similar size)
• Best Press Clear Starch for Quilters (optional, but handy!)
• 505 Basting Spray
• Extension cord with surge protection!

Embellish will provide the fusible web and will have permanent marking pens available to personalize the quilt label that is included in your kit.
