Sewing Machines 101

Class Description

Are you intimidated by your sewing machine? Just got a new machine and want to learn the ins and outs? This 90 minute session in the Embellish classroom will get you on friendly terms with your sewing machine.

This is not a class in maintenance, but rather a tutorial on the basic use and operation of your machine and learning the basics: threading your machine, winding a bobbin, how to insert the bobbin (correctly!), how to change and choose the appropriate needle, how to adjust stitch length & width.

Our instructor Shannon will have you inspired for your next sewing project before the end of the class!

Supply List

• Sewing machine in good working order*;
• Sewing machine manual — Your sewing machine manual is essential for this class. If you do not have a manual, many machine manuals can be downloaded online from the manufacturer or from Manualslib.com;
• Don't forget to bring your foot control, power cord, and all of your feet & accessories;
• Basic Sewing Kit – including thread snips, stitch ripper, straight pins;
• Thread: 2 colours good quality thread (we sell Wonderfil Designer Poly thread @ $3.99 per 1000m spool);

*NOTE: Your sewing machine should be in good working order. We will not be trouble shooting machine problems during this class. If you need machine service, please contact us; we service most makes and models.
