Custom Kicks! (for teens & adults!)
Class Description
Have you ever dreamed of making your own sneakers? Here’s your chance! Join us for Custom Kicks, the class where you make your own shoes!
Choose from 3 sole colours and a variety of shoe top patterns to create the perfect custom kick!
Quilt a scrappy design, mix and match fabrics or fussy cut your fav fabric; these shoes are totally custom to you!
Size EU 36– EU 47 available. See size conversion chart below. Or if you really want to make tiny shoes, size 22 is available!
Suitable for teens & adults, this class is a fan favourite and a great summer day project!
Lunch break from 12:30-1:00pm. Bring your own lunch or enjoy one of the many restaurants and cafes near our new location! We’re happy to provide recommendations!

Supplies:
- Fabric scissors, craft scissors, and thread snips or small scissors
- Strong, thick needle or nail (to poke holes in rubber base)
- Good quality thread to coordinate with your fabric
- Shoelaces (or ribbon, cording, ricrac etc!)
- Marking utensil (chalk pencil, frixion pen)
- Fraycheck
In this class, you’ll be using our provided classroom machines.
Fabric requirements:
- 0.3m exterior fabric
- 0.3m lining fabric
*Fabric requirements may vary slightly with shoe size and selected style
**Please note that directional pattern designs will require more fabric
Included with the class:
- SneakerKit rubber sole base & insole (your selected size)
- SneakerKit upper shoe pattern (your selected design)
- 0.3m décor bond
- 0.3m battilizer
- Waxed thread & needle
- Eyelets for lace holes (your selected colour)
Preparation work is required for your class:
- Cut out paper pattern pieces & tape together according to pattern instructions
- Poke indicated holes in paper pattern pieces (for the shoelaces)
- Poke indicated holes in rubber shoe base with your thick needle or nail
(for attaching the fabric shoe upper to the base)
You’ll be cutting your fabric out during class, so don’t worry about that step yet!
*If you are created a pieced/scrappy fabric upper, please consult with us about stabilization and fabric requirements. Your pieced fabric top will need to be larger than your pattern piece; ask us about this!
All tools, fabric and notions are available at Embellish unless otherwise stated. Take advantage of our helpful and knowledgeable staff to assist in choosing fabrics; we love making recommendations! We are happy to offer a 10% discount on additional class supplies.

| Instructor Bio: | Co-Owner, Shannon Gardiner, a Certified Window Design Specialist and BurdaStyle Certified Teacher, has a long history of design passion with experience as a custom closet design specialist, custom bag designer and maker, theatre practitioner and makeup professional. Shannon is also devoted to teaching and assisting customers with their personal sewing projects pertaining to fashion, accessories, and home decor. |
