Learn to Sew Knits: The Romy Sweater

Class Description

Who doesn’t love knits! Are you nervous about sewing with them? This class will help you master the fundamental techniques to working with knits. Our teacher Ingrid will guide you in the different ways to stitch the seams, binding, and finishing with either a basic sewing machine (must have zig-zag stitch) or a serger. In this two x 3-hour class students will construct a basic beginner friendly loose-fitting raglan sweater from cutting to fitting to finish.

Supply List

• Working sewing machine (don’t forget the foot pedal and power cord) and all your machine accessories, including manual
• Stretch sewing machine needles #90
• Thread to coordinate with fabric choice (we carry Wonderfil Designer polyester)
• Pins & pin cushion (or container)
• Fabric scissors
• Thread snips (nice to have)
• Flexible measuring tape
• Sewing gauge
• Seam ripper
• Marking tool – chalk pen or bright colour frixion marker
• Fine tip Sharpie or pen
• Tracing wheel
• Red dot pattern paper
• Tracing/transfer paper
